Ideation

By rapidly sketching and rendering ideas, we efficiently explore all the possibilities up front, before committing to a design direction and beginning the implementation process.

Design control data

By documenting our design intent with 3D CAD data we eliminate misinterpretation in the engineering and production processes.

Temporary Tool

Some low volume tooling may be used to produce small quantities of parts year after year. By 'temporary tooling' we refer to low cost tooling made from low grade steel that is intended for use only in the immediate future, such as for a batch of prototype parts.

Gas-Assisted Molding

Gas-assist injection molding uses an inert gas to create one or more hollow channels within an injection molded plastic part. This allows us to create parts with thick hollow sections.

Overmolding

A TPE is injection molded over or around a compatible substrate usually for creating dual-material soft-feel handles, grips, etc.

Insert Molding

Plastic is injected into a cavity around an insert piece placed into that cavity just prior to molding. The insert can be a metal piece or another piece of plastic.

Hybrid Forming

By combining a vacuum formed part and a pressure formed part, we are able to create extremely strong, large shells with cosmetic exteriors and detailed interiors that include bosses, ribs, etc.

Laminate Finishes

Durable laminate finishes are available in a wide variety of colors and textures that offer high quality aesthetics.

Clear-room

Merit's clear-room molding facilities are suitable for injection molding parts for medical products.

Clean-room

Merit can provide clean-room sterilization and assembly of medical products.

RIM Molding

Reaction Injection Molding. Two liquid components of polyurethane are combined to fill a mold cavity by chemical reaction. RIM parts can be foam or solid and can vary from soft to extremely rigid.

Compression Molding

Often used for molding silicone rubber parts. A solid material is preheated and placed in a mold cavity.
